about

the firm

  1. After more than 12 years of experience in luxury goods, we’ve come to know a thing or two about what makes a retail business run right (and what doesn’t).
  2. We’ve also learned that the way things work can be critically dependent on the way they look whether it's a complex yet easy-to-use database system for running critical sales reports; a kick-ass presentation deck; or an avant-garde website.
  3. Your Google cry for help typically turns up some stodgy consultancies ready to give you their two cents on aesthetic value faster than a panel of Olympic figure skating judges without nothing tobut with no shortage of opinion on product but come up short on  technical acumen anlgeneric Excel templates.*
  4. Enter The Retail Refinery — a boutique firm providing bespoke solutions for: day-to-day buying, planning, and wholesale ops; short-term project execution & management; long-term strategy building.
We don't do that sort of thing.

  1. Started at banking behemoth Goldman Sachs.
  2. Realized he was supposed to be at the other Saks (the one on Fifth Avenue).
  3. Extensive experience in buying, wholesale, and e-com from some of the best in the business (ie: Ferragamo, Gucci, & Louis Vuitton).
  4. Tackles the toughest problems with data analysis, an eye for detail, and a healthy dose of sarcasm.
‘I hate this beautiful, automated spreadsheet that helps me run my business,’ said no one, ever.

how this works

  1. Schedule a complimentary 30-minute phone consultation during which we will clearly define the central challenge facing your business.
  2. We'll also explore potential solutions and determine if we're a match.
  3. If the feeling is mutual, we'll begin devising a plan to achieve your objectives. We're selective about the projects we take on, so when we get the green light, we're all in.
  4. And if we're not a fit, that's ok too. You'll still walk away with a better idea of what to do next for your business — not to mention a new friend you can always connect with in the future as your business needs evolve.
